Step two: LASIK Consultation

Call

to schedule your Complimentary LASIK Consultation. The Consultation is a thorough review of your individual case, to help you decide if LASIK is right for you. Testing includes measurements of your cornea to determine its health and exact curvature. The refractive surgery Consultation is not a substitute for a full, general eye exam, and does not include a prescription for glasses or contact lenses.

Note: You will be instructed to STOP wearing your soft contact lenses for seven (7) full days before your Consultation, and fourteen (14) full days if you wear hard lenses. Why? Because we need accurate measurements of the surface of your eye (the cornea), and contact lens wear often causes subtle changes in the curvature of your cornea. Patients can resume contact lens wear after the Consultation.

Step three: Schedule Your LASIK Surgery

  • Our Refractive Surgery Coordinator will help you schedule your LASIK treatment.
  • The entire process takes from 1 to 2 hours, but the treatment itself lasts about 15 minutes for both eyes.
  • You'll be given eye drops (1) to prevent infection, and (2) to numb the surface of the eye.
  • You may also be given oral Valium to help you relax.
  • Our staff will talk to you during the entire procedure, explaining each step!
  • Following your treatment, you will be given post-treatment instructions and medications.
  • A friend or family member must drive you home.
  • Patients are instructed to go directly home, and it is suggested that they take a long "nap."
